Ok, so here goes, the first blog of the year (and let´s hope that it´s not that last!): Happy New Year to all and everyone!
Christmas we spent in Iceland, bundled down into a bed most of the time since we arrived sick from Spain. So we watched tv, slept, opened gifts, slept some more, ate a lot of great food (the best being that we didn´t have to make it ourselves!), played games (mostly Darri and Manu playing the P2, I got to play sometimes when they put out the dancing game which waslots of fun), talked in our three languages, and slept some more... oh, and we shopped a lot too, mostly things to take back, so that we would have a little bit more of Iceland in our daily lives. It all went by too fast and here we are, back in Spain. We actually returned the 2nd Jan and that way had a whole week of vacation, to be here for the most important day for spain, the 6th Jan when the Kings bring gifts, but we had to use it to get our house tidied up, study and get our concerts ready, so it wasn´t really vacation any more. And now we´ve been working and at school for a whole week, and it feel like we never went on vacation. How strange this life is, you can never really figure out if what just happened was a dream or if it was real. I always have this sensation, when I fly to Iceland what I leave behind could be a dream, and when I fly to Spain Iceland could have been the dream. Maybe it´s a mechanism of the brain to protect me from depression: that´s just a dream, so you don´t have to worry too much about it...
Anyway, this year has started well, even though we´re back to work. Some of my almost 120 students are horrible, but the ones that are great are worth every minute of my time, so I´m happy having the opportunity to work with them. We have three four-handed concerts coming up, and Freyja´s wedding gift has helped us enormously with that (the double-bench so our butts don´t hang out on each side!) and we have all kinds of interesting music courses coming up. This year also brings lots of changes, mamma and pabbi moving into another house, I think it´s being handed over to them as I write, and here in Spain two new family members will be born, Manu´s sister Maria is having a baby in June, and his older brother Javier and wife Sara are having their third child in August, so they´ll probably be moving this year. And who knows, we might start to look for a bigger apartment, even though we are very cosy here in our tight-fitting little nest, with our two krazies (the daughter has become bigger than the mother, I don´t know if she can be called a cat, looks more like a blob with a cathead stuck on it). We´ll see what this new year brings us.... úlla.
