So we went last night to LOTR3 again, Manu now got the whole movie, he had seen it twice in Iceland but since it had Icelandic text, there were some things that he couldn´t understand, especially when Gimli was talking, so that was great. But I actually kept falling asleep, must have been too late for me, or I wasn´t in the mood for it, or a defense mechanism, because it actually always happened in the battle scenes. Oh, something gruesome coming up, best to fall asleep. So I didn´t enjoy it as much as the first time, and there was this really annoying guy sitting by my side who kept commenting on the movie to his friends in a really loud voice. I almost hit him a couple times.
Anyway, besides that, I´m just staying at home these days, enjoying a few free days in between tests, I only have two left which aren´t difficult and they´re over two weeks time, so I have plenty of free time before the next semester starts. So I stay at home, practicing the piano, which I´ve been able to start up again for real after quitting my job, and studying other music related topics. We ordered the music that goes with the Norton Music History, and I can´t wait to get it to really get started on that.
Otherwise, I´m back to reading something in English, now I'm reading Girl with a Pearl Earring which is pretty good. I´m actually amazed how fast I read, I guess I had forgotten, since in Spanish I always read a little slower to really understand what I´m reading.
And mamma, I finished the Paul Auster, and I´m not so sure that I really understood it. He sets out all these pieces of a puzzle, fragments of stories and you have to piece them together to find out what it is he wants to say, but I can´t, I´m blocked, there´s something that I don´t get. So, read the book, and explain it to me, please!!!
My computer has been acting up the last few days, I hope it doesn´t have that new worm, it says on the news that it lies in hiding for two weeks before it decides to destroy your system, or something like that (?) Anyway, Freyr, where do I find the recycle bin on the computer? It says in Help that it should be on the desktop, but it´s not there. When I try to search for it in Search, an error comes up and the computer turns off. SO, you can see why I´m becoming a bit frazzled!!!!!
Hey, here´s an idea for a wedding present, right? a new computer....that does everything that I tell it to.... aaahhh....

Boy you guys aren't blogging very much are you? :)
Anyway, just read this article, think you guys (especially mamma) should check it out. It's actually just a synopsis of the real article, but that's all you need.
So anyway, I'm very happy with my new fridge, the only thing is that I can't fit my gallon of milk in there...oh well.
So get blogging you guys, tell us what's goin' on. :)

Time to blog again.....these last few days we’ve been going through our usual Icelandic “roulette” weather, where it’s been sub-zero celcius (sp?) mostly around -7 or-8, still but skítkalt samt, and then “all of a sudden” it’s up to 0 this evening (and I can finally get the key into the car door on the driver’s side again) and one thinks wow it’s warming up! It’s all relative, right? And then in the paper today there was an article about the amazing cold in NYC and the newspaper there “dug up” an Icelander to see what HE thought about it, and he of course said he’s never been as cold before in his life as he was now in NYC. Yes, we live in a “mild” climate up here á klakanum. And even though we do have a tendency to complain about the cold here, when there’s no wind, then it’s ok, and even beautiful....that is until it’s been still for too long and a brown smudge of pollution has fastened itself to the foot of Esja and all the way across the horizon. That’s what we get for having 1.5 cars per inhabitant (or something like that). Thank goodness for the wind when it comes!!
And so, yesterday would have been the first class in Spanish 6 at Mímir, and after a lot of serious thought, I decided not to take it this time around, rather save my money for a more intensive class, somewhere, whenever. Being at Mímir has been fine so far, but it’s not enough and though I really like the teacher, these classes are not really taken seriously by the students (who are mostly women my age or older who just need a diversion in their work lives and also enjoy meeting each other once a week.) The group I started with last year, and took 1,2,and3 with, they’ve all quit....and this last fall there wasn’t enough for Sp.4, so the school stuck me in 5, which was ok, but now I see that I don’t want to spend anymore money there. So, readreadread, listen to all the tapes I can find, watch movies, and maybe pay for a few private, intensive lessons.
And again, thanks Þóra, for picking up Freysi.....I’m glad you like the wrappings on you birthday presents: as I was doing it, I suddenly thought, why does one only fold in this direction? why not just go in a different direction?! after all, what is tape for? (Darri and I have been doing origami lately, and I think that’s what did it.) It’s funny how stuck we get in the WAY we do things....we need to do more of that think-outside-of-the-box stuff....right? Time to stop!!for now. (and how do I add links, Freysi mín?)

So here comes my first bloggie....and I’ve been talking in my head all weekend, trying out different items that might be fun to post. First of all, Mundi and I both agree with Darri that yes the house IS empty after our full-house hilarious holidays....where there were so many showers each day that the windows “wept” even more and created true puddles on the floors! (it was so cold outside, you see) And even the wall in Úlla’s and Manu’s room had condensation on it, dripping!!(it was an outside wall). The coat rack was always full and every available space had someone’s stuff “parked”there. So should a full house be. The whole thing was one big party for over 2 weeks, and Manu was able to experience the best of an Icelandic winter, northern lights, lots of snow, freezing cold but beautiful weather, Gullfoss and Geysir, ice-skating, hangikjöt, and fireworks!! And he missed the worst of winter weather as just 2 days after they left, we had one of our bitter cold plus violent wind days. Oj!!bara. Anyway, what fun to be able to experience one’s own world through the eyes of a visitor!....and esp. one who has so much fun himself while doing so. And then when it came time for Mr.Freysi to leave, well that day we were having really wet and warm weather, almost spring-like. And now it’s bitter cold again. And tax season is on us. And even though the days are getting a little bit longer, poor Darri’s Chia-cat that Þóra gave him isn’t sprouting so well. (But having a desk light on it seems to help).
So, for now I’m going to stop here, and say thanks to Freyr for the whole 5 week visit (and the surprise award!!). And also thanks for getting this blog going, and for cleaning the bathroom downstairs before he left!(that was you, right? sure wasn’t me!). It sure is strange to “suddenly” realize that you won’t see your (older) kids now for possibly quite awhile. Thank god(s) for computers and phones!! blæblæ, bless á meðan.

Last time this didn´t work, let´s see if it works this time. I´m not even sure what to do...anyway...
Hi everybody, this is Úlla. Freysi just showed me how to use this, and let´s see if it worked (since mamma hasn´t sent me the information yet, eh, mamma!?)Anyway, yes a big brother will seem to take up a lot of room if he´s always in your bedroom!! But Darri says it only because he misses you so much, right, DArri?
Since this is my first blog and more like a trial to see if it really works, I don´thave much to say, I have my mind on tests anyway, which I should be studying for. So, bless í bili, see youlater, baebae.
